Starting next week, players will be given the option to purchase coins from the Sticker Shop, which allows players the ability to access new packs and character content more quickly – all the same content that can be earned through regular gameplay. Now you have the choice to play your way; you can play to get new packs and content via earned coins in the game, or you can purchase coins to get more of the packs and content you want right away.
Vor Erscheinen von Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare verkündete EA, es gäbe „zum Start keine Mikrotransaktionen“. Natürlich konnte man aus der geschickten Formulierung entnehmen, irgendwann später wird es welche geben. Nun ist es ab Montag soweit. Spieler können dann die ingame-Münzen, mit denen man zufällige Upgrades und optische Anpassungspakete kaufen kann, für echtes Geld erwerben. Es ist weiterhin möglich, über reines spielen Münzen zu verdienen. Was man so von Spieler ließt ist es bislang recht fair gestaltet, es wird also nicht umbedingt nötig sein Geld auszugeben.
EA rechtfertig ihr Entscheidung damit, dass es schon einige kostenlose Add-ons gab und auch noch weitere kostenlose kommen werden. Es wird sich natürlich zeigen, ob in Zukunft das Verdienen von Münzen negativ angepasst wird. Einen fahlen Beigeschmack hat es auf jeden Fall.
Mike Fahey von Kotaku hat Garden Warfare länger gespielt und findet, da er wenig Zeit hat, die Entwicklung ganz gut:
Were I a much younger man with tons of free time and no family to worry about, the fact that soon players will be able to purchase coins in Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare might annoy me. But alas, I am absolutely thrilled.
